HOW CAN YOU BECOME A FOLLOWER OF JESUS?

God’s grace is a free gift. We do not have to earn our way into relationship with God. God, our Father, is always ready for us to come home. Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

No matter what we’ve done or who we are, we simply say “Yes, I want to follow Jesus,” and we become a lifelong learner on the way with Him. This means we let our lives become a “thank You!” back to God for the free gift of His grace and mercy.

We can get started by saying a prayer like this: “I want to follow You, Jesus. Forgive me for all the times I have messed up. I need Your help. I thank You for coming from heaven to earth to show me the Way. I’m grateful that You offered Yourself on the cross to redeem my past, be my Friend and Leader right now, and claim my future forever. Amen.”
